2018 Kia Classic Volunteer Committees
Distribute pre-purchased tournament credentials to the appropriate recipient at will-call locations, sell tickets on site and act as ambassadors for the event. Committee members will also be scanning tickets and greeting patrons as they enter the main gates of the tournament.
Ambassadors will be stationed around the golf course, distribute programs/pairing guides, and assist with spectator questions to help guarantee a great experience for all attendees. Ambassadors will also assist with the Pro-Am breakfast and lunch experience.
: Cashiers, cashier assistants, greeters and assistance with stocking and replenishment. (New this year) This committee will also take an active role in assisting with main entrance activation areas to generate an incredible fan experience.
: Greet sponsors and other guests as they enter the hospitality areas and answer any questions. Ensure that clients with proper credentials are allowed access to the designated areas and help assist in those areas during the Women’s Leadership Day and Pro-Am breakfast and lunch.
Tournament Office: Prior to and during the tournament, volunteers will provide tournament administrative support to LPGA staff and tournament committee chairpersons. Some of the duties include preparing player and caddie registration materials, preparing and organizing pro-am tournament materials, and organizing and disbursing tournament supplies. Volunteers will be “information central” during tournament week assisting with tournament phones, assisting player families with scooter assignments and providing tournament information to the public. (Volunteers must be able to work during the week prior to the tournament in addition to tournament week.)
Volunteer Services: Support LPGA staff in interactions with volunteers. Primary duties include production and distribution of volunteer credentials, distribution of volunteer uniforms, manage volunteer tent services and support other volunteer committees as needed during the day. (Volunteers must be able to work during the week prior to the tournament in addition to tournament week.)
The volunteers will be responsible for caddie registration, caddie bib distribution/pick-up and providing general services for the LPGA Tour caddies during the event. Responsibilities also include managing and maintaining the putting green near the clubhouse and caddie headquarters. Volunteers will work closely with security personnel to exercise gallery control.
The volunteers will be responsible for managing and maintaining the practice areas including driving range and chipping area.
: Responsibilities include professional registration including preparing player packets. Also support professional services including locker room services. May be asked to volunteer some hours prior to tournament week to ensure organization and proper set up of player facilities.
Manage tournament cars and transport players and tournament guests from airport to designated hotel or course. Transportation committee will also be responsible for driving shuttles to and from volunteer parking lot. Volunteer Requirements: Must be at least 25 years of age and have valid driver’s license.
Oversee the distribution of carts to assigned volunteers, sponsors and tournament staff. Cart distribution will be located near Volunteer Headquarters and clubhouse. May also have to assist in shuttling of volunteers to their locations on the course.
Provide ball spotting to players and control the movement and conversations of spectators; on-course active position. The committee is also responsible for handling the movement of the players during an evacuation.
Requirements: Must be able to stand for long periods of time.
Replenish water, ice, printed material and other products on course. Volunteer Requirements: Must be at least 21 years of age and be able to lift heavy items.
Committee is essential in the scoring of the tournament with the use of radio communication and computers.
Collect scorecards, check addition and make sure players turn in their cards.
Shuttle committee will be responsible for various golf carts and shuttling. Drivers are needed for player shuttles around the course and driving range. This committee also facilitates the shuttle fleet and helps transport sponsors, VIPS, media members and others from the parking lot to the admission gates as well as run various spectator shuttles on course. Volunteer Requirements: Volunteers must be at least 21 years of age.
CLOSED Carry a sign inside the ropes during play and display players’ scores. Volunteers must be able to walk all 18 holes on the golf course and be in very good physical condition.
Committee works with television production crew in monitoring the tournament leaders for television broadcast.
Media Center: CLOSED Work alongside the LPGA TOUR Media staff, assisting visiting media companies.
Act as a roaming marshal and assist gallery control when they need more people as different groups of players come through. Will also assist in high traffic areas.
Responsibilities include keeping score on handheld Palm device and reporting scores to scoring control by radio. Volunteers must be able to walk a full 18 holes in all types of weather conditions.
